Hip Hop Hipsters

tonight i went to see LMFAO live on their Party Rock tour. they had a series of dj's open up for them such as dj skeet skeet , dj jason smith, and roxy cottontail and they were all really good, even the worst performance was dance-able (perhaps i might have to look into techno more seriously hmmmm...). one of their openers was David Rush. they remixed one of his songs called shooting star. this song is sick. it seriously makes you wanna move in the worst way. i would not advise listening to it while driving, you're bound to be pushing 100 wihtout even thinking about it. in addition to this remix they also do remixes to several popular songs such as hot n' cold by katy perry and boom boom pow by the black eyed peas. these remixes and several other songs of theirs are availible on their myspace.

while the music on their albums is quite good to jam to (especially if you feel like dancing) their live show is certainly a sight to be seen. they're as filled with energy as their songs are and they dress exactly as their songs say they dress ("no lenses, checkered shoes..."). the show featured a few (friends of theirs presumably) dancers, a guy and girl who jumped around and at times acted out the lyrics. in their song "im in miami, bitch" there's a line that says "hey! you look kinda cute, in that polka- dot bikini, girl..." at that point the girl ripped her clothing off revealing of all things, a polka dot bikini (that happened to say im in miami bitch on it and was for sale after the show). with each song they changed shirts that had a quoteable lyric printed on it. by the end of the show they had pulled people from the audience on stage to dance with them. it was crazy. below are picture of my friends and i with red foo and sky blue respectively.

Don't Stop

for this blog i shall discuss my latest music obsession: innerpartysystem. they're an amazing blend of techno and alternative. their lyrics are as edgy as they are catchy. if i listen to their songs i find myself singing them all day but at the same time i don't mind doing it. i saw them a few weeks ago in Allentown, PA at a venue called Crocodile Rock Cafe. the concert had 5 or 6 openers (wayyyyy too many) but the venue was really nice. small enough that i could feel as though the band was playing to me but not too small that it was completely overcrowded. there was plenty of room for all of the innerpartysystem fans, but the space durring the openers didn't seem awkward and underfilled.

as much as the openers sucked innerpartysystem was outstanding. their live show was among the best ive seen. it featured an awesome light show that i wanted to watch as much as i wanted to see them play. they kept me dancing the entire time. i dont think ive ever sweated that much at a show, ever.
on the way out my friend and i met a few of the band members and thanked them for the show. they were nice enough to take a picture with us. i also picked up a sweet white v-neck t-shirt. i intend to rock it this summer with skinny jeans and my DC Villains mostly because i can.

so yeah, go listen to them.
